How much will the delivery cost?

Total Safes offers a FREE standard delivery service on our products to UK mainland addresses.

We may offer free delivery to other non UK Mainland areas such as Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland on selected items but sometimes these areas can incur  an extra charge. Please ring us on 0161 819 6888 or use our Contact Us and we can personalise the quote to your location.

Delivery is to the door and so for larger items you may like to know that we are the only UK online safe retailer that offers a FREE Delivery & Installation service that includes bringing the safe inside your building and bolting it down to a Ground Floor location. The safe can be installed in a location of your choice providing adequate access is available with 1-2 steps on the delivery route.

Who will be delivering my order?

Items under 60kg are usually sent by 3rd party carrier service. We use various services including DPD, Parcel Force and TNT. Items over 60kg are usually installed by us too in which case it will be delivered by our inhouse CRB checked teams via our own company vehicles.

How long will my delivery take?

This varies. Lead times are stated on individual product pages but this can be affected by address and options ordered (e.g. if you require a non-stocked colour or custom deposit option.

If your delivery is likely to take longer than the stated lead time you will be advised by email as soon as possible.

How late can I place an order for an item that is marked as next day delivery?

Usually, we need you to place your order before 11am*  for next working day delivery.

*Excluding bank holidays and weekends.

How can I track my order?

Once your order is accepted you will be sent an email with a delivery update (usually within 24 hours).

If your order is for delivery only, depending on which depot your order leaves from you may be sent a reference to track the 3rd party carrier service. Additionally, if you supply a mobile number some carriers will send a text notification.

If your order is for installation, on the day of installation our teams have instructions to ring the contact number provided when they are leaving their previous job and inform you of an ETA.  

Where do you deliver to?

We deliver to most postal areas in the UK including Northern Ireland, but locations can sometimes restrict the speed of your delivery or incur a charge.

Areas that are not classed as 'UK Mainland' include (but not limited to): Northern Ireland, Isle of Wight, Isle of Man, Channel Islands. 

What if I'm not around when you try to deliver?

If the item is for delivery only by 3rd party carrier, delivery is Monday to Friday, usually during normal business hours. If you are not in at the time of the delivery, the courier leaves notification to let you know of the attempted delivery. Please then follow the instructions on the card to rearrange delivery or to collect your item from our courier’s nearest depot. If a 2nd delivery attempt fails the order will usually be returned to us. 

If the order is for installation, we will notify you in writing of your installation date and our team is instructed to ring ahead when leaving their previous job to let you know they are on their way. If you are unable to be around for installation meet the agreed date please contact us as soon as possible so that we can arrange a new delivery date. If there is nobody around when our team arrives, the installation will have to be aborted and there will be a charge to re-attend at a later date.

Will I be charged extra for delivery via steps or stairs?

Usually, yes. It is important that you advise us if there are more than 2 steps along the delivery route (from the the installation location)

If your item is not a doorstep delivery, there is usually an additional charge for delivery/installation via more than TWO steps (so threshold steps are forgiven). So, for example, if you require safe installation to the first floor and you have a suitable there will not be an additional charge. However if you require installation at first floor and there is a staircase, there will be an additional charge.

If there are additional steps that you have not advised us about when our team arrives to install the safe then installation will likely be aborted. This will incur additional costs to re-attend + charges for the stairs.

How do I know if my floor will take the weight of the safe?

If you are purchasing a safe that weighs more than 400-500kgs we would advise that you contact a qualified surveyor who will measure the floor load. Floor loading limits tell you the maximum weight your floor will accept. For large, heavy safes or cabinets delivered to upper floors it is possible that your floor will not accept the increased weight and may cause damage to your building.

Can you deliver my items indoors?

Regardless of the listed delivery service we have the skills and the machinery to deliver or install any safe or cabinet in most locations whether this is via stairs, lift, window or roof. Get in touch to discuss for a quote if your requirements are over and above the standard delivery service.

Our goods include different types of delivery service which you will find on the table at the bottom of the product page in the column 'Delivery/Installation'. These services are explained below:

  • Free Doorstep Delivery - These goods will be delivered to your doorstep or kerbside only. They will not be brought indoors. If you require the goods to be brought indoors and positioned in a specific location please contact us for a quote.
  • Free Positioning any floor* - The goods will be brought into the building and positioned where required on the ground floor or any other floor as long as a suitable lift is available (if access is via stairs/steps there is an additional charge).
  • Free Installation any floor* - The safe will be bolted into a concrete floor, joists of a wooden floor or suitable external wall (if rear fixing holes present) at GROUND or ANY other floor as long as there is a suitable lift (if access is via stairs/steps there is an additional charge).
  • Free Ground Floor Delivery - The goods will be brought into the building at ground floor level (they will not be take to any other floor even if there is a lift present) if the product you are looking at states this as the delivery method and you would like it delivered to an upper or lower floor please contact us for quote.
  • Free Delivery any floor* - The goods will be delivered to any floor as long as a suitable lift is available (if acess is via stairs/steps there is an additional charge).
*Suitable stairs are straight or right angled AND more than 50cm wide. 
**A suitable lift will be able to carry the size and weight of the item. E.g. A safe weighting 800kg cannot be placed in a lift with a capacity of 450kg intended to carry up to 6 people.  
If there is no lift available and the access stairs are less than 50cm wide and/or are of a curved design please contact us before placing your order.

If my order is customised/bespoke who will this affect the delivery?

Customised products will usually take longer than the stated lead time and this will vary depending on the current production times.

What is an aborted delivery/installation and how can this be avoided?

Aborted deliveries can incur further charges to you but providing we have the correct information these can be avoided. Some examples of where we may need to abort delivery are:

  • Nobody home - When you are given your installation date you must ensure someone is available at the location to receive our team when they arrive. If nobody is home we will have to abort and rearrange for another date (at further cost to you). 
  • You didn't tell us there would be several entrance steps or an internal staircase - It is important you tell us exactly how many entrance steps and internal stairs there are. If you tell us there are 0-2 steps but we find there are more than 2 when we arrive we may have to abort the installation  (leaving you to arrange this yourself) or return at a later date (at additional cost)
  • Doorways or corridors are too narrow for the goods - please check the product dimensions and the route to delivery when ordering.
  • Lift is not suitable - please check the safe you are ordering is not too big or heavy for the lift in your building..
  • Lift is out of service - Please check your lift is working (and for any scheduled maintenance visits) prior to safe delivery.
